And the Award goes to the Flower............

I am addicted on so many levels to the visual images of flowers.  There is something so pure and wonderful about a blooming colorful bud that is awe-inspiring. It is the only thing that I know of that has so many different meanings and convey thoughts without uttering a single sound. Apparently the language of flowers has a name....Floriography which was coined in the Victorian era. Blue flowers are told to be representative of faith and loyalty and one website suggest that there is a tie between blue flowers and the bride (in the U.S) always wearing something blue on that special day. The bright yellow Daffodil is a symbol of new beginnings and rebirth and since it is the first flower to bloom after a long cold winter, I believe this!! It is also said to always give in bunches as a single Daffodil is a bad omen. The Rose is an utterly contradicting flower. It grows piercing sharp thorns to push you away and velvety soft petals to pull you in. Then there is the Pansy. It is  petite in stature but it's natural ability is to withstand whatever nature throws at it. The meanings of these God given gifts can say so much by their visual property. It can shout out that you are loved by it's rich red color, pink can insinuate infatuation, or peach shows deep and abiding friendship.  Green can offer the hope for good health and yellow offers up good cheer. Blossoms can show mourning, sympathy, love , thoughtfulness, cheerfulness, friendship, and gratitude. They can come in bunches or alone. They can come from the Florist or your neighbors backyard. It a beautiful crystal vase or an old mason jar. They can come on Valentines from your lover boy or in the hand of your small child. It can be set on the gravestone of your big brother who you still mourn after 26 years or put on your kitchen table to brighten up a winters day.
What a divine gift to the world is the flower! Today I am in gratitude for that small gift that effects my life in so many ways.. Go and Do.
