Don't Take Down Fences....

Don't take down fences when you don't know why they were put up....this was advice given a long time ago and was regurgitated to our 16 year old. She, like many teens, is an amazing gal but still is a teen. There were some issues with not following up on several task be quested of her. (Typical teen...) So Prince Charming had a one on one with her to explain that tasks are important in life and when "the queen" ask you to do something you do it even when you believe it is best not too. And then the story came out:

"Honey, I know you think mom is asking things of you that you don't understand why. Understandable. (Really? Understandable? That I don't get!) But someone told me once and it really is true, don't take down fences when you don't know why they were put up in the first place. Now picture a farmer who had been infested with hungry wolves that would stalk his cattle. He built a fence to keep the wolves out and the cattle in .....safe. Now he passes away and his son, not knowing why the fences were built, rips them down as he wants to see the whole of the land. That night wolves invade and kill all his cattle. He tore down a fence when he didn't know why it was there. Most fences are built by your ma/pa for your safety. You must trust that when we ask you to do or not do things that it is to protect and serve you in some way." (Good Prince Charming)

So here I am today to say "don't tear down fences". I know that it is easy, oh so easy, to let our pride/rebellion/arrogance allow us to discard, let-go, destroy fences in our lives but before we do that on impulse, see why those fences stood strong before hand.

Go and do.....and choose a picket fence...those are the cutest.
