Firesidej....

So we all sat around a fire outside...thank you Lord for the nice days....finally. Our future son-to-be was with us as we all enjoyed the flames flicking at the myriad of goodies waiting for us to roast. There was the makings of smores, marshmallows, hot dogs and cider. It was the first of eves that really encouraged one to be out due to being cool enough for a blanket yet warm enough to feel comfort. It was a good night. I looked through the billowing smoke to see the faces that I love and have come to love. I saw that this is my circle. These are the people that mean the most to me.

Our family has been under some duress lately. It seems that the Universe is trying to teach us something through extreme drama that friends that have touched many in our family. But at the end of the day we gather together and I realize that life is good as long as you have your family.

The smell of fire and the laughter's of truth-or-dare outcomes. Our finest moment was our soon to be son being dared to run out into the tumble weed filled land that was without the benefit of light and scream to the twinkling stars that he is "A STOP LIGHT!" This request coming from the  giggling 11 year old Maya who thinks that this was the funniest thing ever! Stories of high school, family, grandparents, life were shared under the dark night and I curse the future neighbors we will have while thanking the heavens for the deserted fields that are now.

When drama hits you full force, take the fam out to a camp fire and roast some marshmallows. Life won't seem as tragic. In fact, you will  be so filled with love and light that nothing else will matter...at least for the moment.

Go and have a campfire!
