Chris Cagel and Other Things...

Chris Cagel and other things….we, as a family, have been a little reclusive since we have moved out to the “Suburbia Country”. There is City Festive week here. A parade that consist more of advertisements then floats. A carnival with a remotely entertaining Talent Show section. Please don’t misconstrue, it is lovely and so small town that it is so fun.  But we decided to get out and partake of the celebrations being offered. Mama and My (11 yrs old) went to the Carnival. We dined on the myriad of rides that were designed specifically to make one want to release any food still held in the stomach. The tilt-a-hurl is what actually may have taken my brain off its’ axis and jiggle for a day or so within my skull. Then off to the Parade. I felt like I was watching commercials along with the various flavors of taffy that were randomly thrown at me……yummy!!!

Then to cap off the week we went to a concert in the Park. Chris Cagel, a very entertaining cowboy, presented a “showman” type show! Since no chairs were allowed we took our blankets and found a perfect spot on the hill. We dined on pork roasted sandwiches and swirly ice-cream that cost way too much but was worth every penny…..just sayin’.  As the concert started so did the cold. We nestled up in our blankets and sat close to each other for comfort and a bit of family love! The concert rocked and then was capped off with  off the wall fireworks! It was a great time……

I brought this up because I learned a life lesson by a country singer…..believe me if you don’t love country now …..you will …..just get older! Any how, I noticed that ol’ Chris was so welcomed by our small little community and due to that he spewed love all over the place! He complimented our town and said he would consider retiring here. He spoke of his home and invited us all there for a day shoot he is doing for a video. He could not say enough good things about us here.  And as he gave love the love returned was 10 fold. Now here is the life lesson….the boy is a showman…I get it….but he said things in a sincere way and truthfully. And as he showed his admiration and freely shared his compliments, the crowd went wild. That can work for us in life. We often, I have found, have a hard time complimenting others because we think it takes away from us BUT IT really just adds to that other person. We lose nothing by giving praise to others, in truth, we only gain. As we sincerely praise others they in turn will find loyalty and love to us.

So go and do a lil’ Chris Cagel……maybe gitch yousel’ a lil’ cowgal hat to go with it!
