Bodies of Women

Bodies of Women..... my eldest is consistently engrossed in the issues that women face these fragile days. I really welcome her perspective. She brings out thoughts and ideas that I, very honestly, never pondered upon.

She posed very ruminative speculation regarding the cycle of a woman's body. We are born into the world with our bodies being equivalent. (PLEASE UNDERSTAND THIS IS JUST A GENERAL NARRATIVE)  We grow into the pre-pubescent stage of preparing for menstruation. We enter that cycle which is a  slow cross-over. It doesn't just happen. Often we start our periods with a fluctuation of heaviness or lightness, cramps or no cramps, on the dot every month or a random date usually coinciding with a special event!!!  Our inside chooses and it is as random as the days are. Then we go into the high-functioning mode of preparing for the process of the actual act of creating a genuine human being.

**We veer off where our bodies grow a person. Our mammary glands now start the process of creating actual milk to sustain a baby for up to a few years!!!!!  Our bones start to move and expand to create a comfortable rent-free apartment for said offspring.  Our body diverts our own life-sustaining minerals and calcium to the womb. Our very skin expands and stretches to accommodate the changes of whatever our frame demands.  The organs inside ourselves move and adjust around the human inside of us. Our bladder is no longer kind to us.

****After the birth of the newborn our anatomy tries to readjust and our bone frame starts to shrink to semi the same. The bones of our hips can be felt moving and realigning working to remember where they were original. Our breasts that are now milk machines start to be bulbous and heavy. Our insides start to elect to go back to their normal functions. Some, while nursing, refuse to start up menstruating and some bodies don't care. Women may be bleeding,  nursing, bone reconstructing without the ability for decent food or any sense of restorative sleep.  We will not even enter into the emotional part of this branch of  life

The new stage we enter after adapting to the event of potential childbirth is the winding down of our sacred female functions. The monthly announcement of womanhood starts to dwindle. We enter the dreaded pre-menopause phase. Sleeping becomes eradicated and flashes of heat that can bake a pie becomes the norm.  Our bodily functions changes affect emotional behavior and the randomness of our monthly flow becomes a cause for anxiousness. The final destination of our UNIQUE TO WOMEN  only is the menopause stage. It has all the randomness and the endurance of insomnia, heart palpations, hot flashing, complete dissolution of menstruating. Our bodies have fought the good fight.

This is the journey that is exclusive to womanhood ONLY.

I joked with Prince Charming that a man's journey is to grow hair everywhere and create a larger set of already existing gonads. . . . I find myself charming sometimes.

I say go and find your strength. Our bodies' cycle of life tells us that we are more powerful than we let ourselves believe. Go and do my sisters and honor that which our bodes already tell us, that we are unexampled in this world and that my dear is powerful.
