The Shire
The Shire.....We live in a wonderland when spring arrives. Rolling green lawns, and tall outstretched trees filled with Blue Birds and Cardinals and myriad other birds. Bees buzz as they hover over the new blossoms. It is peaceful. Hammock swaying by the lite breeze and rocking chairs beckoning one to "take the load off" sort of feeling. Rabbits run through the yard from their hutch to the mini forest that edges the land. Onions, asparagus, and berry bushes start to show. It is centering. Crows call out to each other while poison ivy tries to take over. Green fills every window view. The blue of the pool rustles with any whiff of air. Serenity. White linens dry on the clothesline announcing the coming of summer. The front porch looks onto the flower bed of orange, pink, and red. It is the American Dream. A neglected garden area thrives with wild roses and useless tree forms. Begging for a new life and knowing it is on the way. Twinkle lights smatter the area. Peaceful travelers come here.
Why do I wax poetic? Life has thrown so many curves that there are days when everyone needs a shire. We all need a place to re-center and gain a better perspective. We need to get out of our norm and see that there is something better than shopping, phones, gyms, and entertainment.
There is a new word called "Earthing". Throughout history, the earth has been espoused to have energy that heals us. We walk on concrete these days and shoes stay on. Back to Earthing. VERYWELLMIND site says that :
"Earthing, also known as grounding, allows people to directly connect their bodies with the Earth and use its natural electric charges to stabilize them.1 This practice involves walking barefoot outdoors or using indoor grounding systems while sleeping or sitting."
They go on to say:
Types of Earthing
Earthing techniques focus on reconnecting your energy with the earth through direct or indirect contact. These methods include:
- Walking outside barefoot
- Laying on the ground
- Going swimming or taking a bath
- Gardening
- Using grounding mats, blankets, patches, and socks
