A "testi" day

My house is brimming with excitement of jokes, blushing, and questions as we have had, as parents, to address a particular issue at our house. Ike's recent "male" surgery that left him in the hospital overnight. How do you explain to children who range from 9-17 years old how we had to have a particular male anatomy thingy removed. Oh, did I mention Ike is our new "rescue" dog? And yes, he was , well shall we say .......nothing more about it.

It just brings up an issue of communication. It seems, that as humans, the one thing we have in common is communication. Most of us are blessed with a tongue that moves and vocal chords that work but chose not to use them in a way that serves them. Communication is so important that  Socrates had said (regarding deafness) "If we hadn't a voice or a tongue, and wanted to express things to one another, wouldn't we try to make signs by moving our hands, head, and the rest of our body, just as dumb people do at present?"[3] (dumb meaning deaf ofcourse)  But as we all have different types of personalities, communication can be the bain of our existance or the best skill we have.  May I offer a example. (This is in no means to bouey one up or put one down.) I work at a company
in which they are very customer friendly. More so then any company I have ever shopped, worked, or browsed. Now, a customer, who by the way got "the world" handed to her, wanted more. Her communication was loud and talking over and self repeating. She had one goal and that was to get what she wanted for no money. The customer service rep, whose goal was to have peace and no confrontation, was near tears as she was trying to make the customer happy but knew that the customer had already obtain several items without charge and knew we could not send an item (which we didn't have anyway) overnight to her for free. (25.oo charge).  Why can't be be nice? Why? We can still get our way.
