Would You Sit around the Campfire?

Would You Sit Around the Campfire......that is the golden question one should ask about a new acquaintance. But I digress. We meet hundreds of people, nay thousands of people in our lives that can be potential friends. They are thinner then us, richer then us, shorter then us, less educated then us. They come from trailors, mansions, apartments. They come from different countries, communities, and family traditions.  So how can one decide who will be a friend to us?

Let us start with a campfire. Have you ever been privileged to be "sittin" around a roaring campfire? Lite cinders wafting through the air, smell of smoke clinging to everything, colors of red and orange dancing high and low. You generally are wrapped in a coat or long sleeves and if you are lucky you have something to throw in the fire to "watch burn". There may be sticks with hot dogs, marshmallows, or the ever festive Starburst dangling at the end dripping towards the fire. Around a campfire conversations flow freely. Subjects of any kind are broached. As the night waines on so does the truthfulness of the words shared. The evening around a campfire tends to linger. It has no phone interruptions, no mindless television, no places one is late for. It is a true exchange of friendship. By the end around a fire everyone smells the same.....like fire. Those who shared the circle around the flames are equal in their smells, their confidences, and the satisfaction of a fulfilling evening.

So I go back to the original question one should ask about a new acquantince. Would I sit around a camp fire with them for an evening? And if the answer is yes then you, my dear, have just found a friend.

Go and Do and let us meet around the campfire!
