Mornings.......

Mornings........I have found that my life has taken on so many twists and turns that my head can barely wrap itself around the changes. One is that my littlie grand baby has come to stay at "Happy's" house for several weeks. Let me tell you it is wonderful and hard and renewing all at the same time!

My lil gal is at the terrible two stage. Yesterday my lassie came out of our closet wearing Poppy's ski helmet. By the time I had put it away she was in the pantry with Hershey chocolate bar melted all over her face and hands looking akin to the Swamp Thing. By the end of the day we had wiped off mascara from her face and arms, dust busted up a whole bag of fish crackers off the carpet, chased her naked down the street, cleaned up bits of her high chair she has ripped off, said for the hundredth time "DON'T FEED THE DOG!" She picked off the flowers of the plants at the local Piggly Wiggly, and took off her diapers, escaped through an open door and almost smothered the dog. Motherhood reality smack down.

We, having phones, can document all that has happened. The send button to her wonderful parents was hit several times during the day. Documentation that I am both too old for this and yet revitalized and feeling younger having her here.

What we didn't document was the cuddle fest with the anti-child dog and he becoming her protector and companion. She wrapping her tiny arms around Poppy so tight before he goes to work and then standing on the porch vigorously waving to him. Blowing bubbles and her dancing after them on the front lawn in the early morning while there is still dew on the ground. Running in the yard chasing after her Uncle and Auntie as they drive away to school. She laying with us in our bed with her footy PJ's and wet hair watching the movie Frozen. Sitting at the big-people table with her very own slice of pizza and jabbering on about something we cannot understand. Playing with her Uncle as he throws her in the air and squealing with delight and saying "646" instead of "123" to do it again and again until his arms cannot take any more before the muscle cramps start! Her 16 year old Aunt volunteering to give her a bath with floating ducks and singing together, laughter tinkling out the closed door. The wet kisses on the lips and the belly laughter. The kisses on the nose of the canine (yuck). The excitement dancing at the Disney intro of movies. The cries for her "Happy". Her need for tight hugs when sad or scared or hurt or just too tired for life. Her going to our large family photo and pointing out her mommy and daddy and then off to see the world.

My furniture might be covered for protection and the small dog may end up being 400 pounds but having this little bit in our home has been a gift! It is the joys of littlies in the home again. Such a blessing. God is good.

Go and do and make your own bubbles in the front lawn during the morning dew.
