Noon Day Smear

We have all encountered what one would call the mid-day smear and I don’t mean smear with a bagel.  I mean that cascade of black that leaks from our eyes and the mass of color seeping into any and all creases of our skin.  There are a few quick and easy steps we can follow to keep our coifs coifed and our make up clean all day long.

The first step is to start with a clean slate. Clean your skin with whatever method you choose and then tone your skin before you use any make up. (A great homemade toner is witch hazel or cider vinegar mixed with a little water is a great way to tone.) Your next step is to put a layer on your skin that will hold the make-up in place. Eye primer is great for the eyes and before applying any makeup use a “dusting” powder on your face. This will absorb your natural oils and hold onto your make-up. It will serve you well to use any and all products that are waterproof. These items tend to “last” longer on you.

To have well managed lips it is best to use a lip liner that is the same shade or a bit darker then your lipstick.  When you have applied the lip color then dust with a little powder and then reapply the lipstick.  (Be sure to cover the inside corners of your lips.) Now add lip-gloss from the center of your lip out.  A handy kit of q-tips, gloss, dusting powder, and hairspray will go a long way for your noonday freshener. A really great tip is to have a travel size spray bottle of water that you can gently spray and, then with your fingers or a sponge, redistribute the already applied makeup.  It’s okay to have a noonday smear, just make sure it is on your noonday bagel!Go and do. (This was actually an article I wrote a loooonngg time ago but thought it was fun!)
